History:

Sharm El Shekh airport is considered as one of the great tourist airports, it was handed over to the Egyptian civil aviation authority after the recovery of the precious part of Sinai and that was at April 1982; to be civilian administrated, it included a simple building divided into a departure hall and other one for arrival each of capacity 150 passengers per hour, The airport also was including a tarmac with the capacity of 4 medium aircrafts.

 

Location:

The airport is located at about 23 km northeast from the city.

 

Capacity:

  • The area of the international arrival hall is 4300 m2 with the capacity of 800 passengers per hour.
  • The surface area of the international departure hall is 3500 m2 with the capacity of the 1000 passengers per hour.
  • The total capacity of terminal 1 is 1800 passengers per hour.
  • At terminal 2 the international departure hall of surface area 7539 m2, while the domestic departure hall's surface area is 680 m2, all with capacity of 1200 passengers per hour.
  • The international arrival hall is 7539 m2, while the surface area of the domestic arrival hall is 1663 m2, all with the capacity of 1200 passengers per hour.
  • The total capacity of terminal 2 is 2400 passengers per hour.
