History:
Ministry of civil aviation represented in the Egyptian airports company showed a great interest in developing Borg El Arab international airport, which substitutes El Nozha airport at Alexandria, which faces a lot of problems across the passed few years, in whicht became incapable of receiving freighter aircrafts because of the corridors land nature.
The cost of the development project is about 52 million dollars.
It was decided to start the implementation of developing Borg El Arab airport in October 2007, to be inaugurated at the end of 2009.
Location:
Borg El Arab international airport is located at 34 kilo-meter southwest of Alexandria.
Capacity:
- It includes a new terminal with the capacity of 1000 passengers per hour.
- It is equipped with the latest equipments according to the instructions set by the organization of international aviation, to provide distinguishable service to the passengers, and airport security field as well.
- It also includes an air freight building with the capacity of around 10 thousand tons yearly, can be increased according to the shipment requirements at this region.
- Aircrafts' stand which accommodates till 10 aircrafts of various models.
